Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and anchor and commentator on NBC News based in Washington D.C. Following a childhood in New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She became a Washington general correspondent for NBC News two years later. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was appointed chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell became the Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was a panelist at the TV program Meet the Press. She was on the panel in 1988's presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded numerous times for journalism excellence, including her Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award by Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell started covering in the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to various summits while in the company of the President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
