Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's first attempts to make it within the mainstream world of music failed. Perry was signed to two labels and later dropped by them before the release of any music. Capitol Records however released Perry's EP Ur So Gay in 2007. Ur So Gay's title track was a cheerfully flippant track that received little notice. The song I Kissed a Girl was a more assertive ode sexism with a sharp edged electro-pop style. Many critics accused the track as a sly reference to homosexuality, while others claimed that the song's raunchy lyrics were designed to attract men with fantasies. I Kissed a Girl, the combination of excitement with a sophisticated melody, helped I Kissed a Girl to be a top-rated hit in many countries and drive the sales of her album One of the Boys. Hot N Cold was a hit in America, and the album's second song Hot N Cold with its interesting bouncy, sharp tongued beat gained popularity.
